Simmer until all seeds have split. Drain and rinse with cool water to stop the cooking process. Top with Cold water and allow to stand for a few hours. |
||||
3. |
Drain once more and add a few caps of Braham & Murray Extra Strong Hemp Oil. This will replace the natural oils lost during the boiling process and enhance the final bait. |

| There are a number of tips that will improve the final finish of the cooked hemp. Soaking the 'raw' seed overnight or for 24 hours does slightly improve the quality and again marginally reduce the initial 'first to split' time. |

During the boiling process many of the natural oils that the fish find so attractive are boiled out. The product is unrivaled in the market place and a must for all anglers. |

A Spoonful of bicarbonate of soda will make the shells go black; many anglers like to do this to help make the seed stand out in the water. However, this process can also make the inner white nut go a little off white in colour. It's up to you what finish you want. |

Try grading the Hemp. In the bag will be a good number of bigger seeds. Running the bag of hemp though a riddle should sort them out! Now the cunning part. Use a needle and pass it though the bigger grains; use braid for the thread and pass the needle from the flat end of the seed and out the 'pointed' side. Discard any seeds that crack or split. Place the necklace of hemp in the boiling water [don't forget to tie the two ends of braid together!] and allow to boil for a little time less than the rest of the hemp - only allow the hemp to just split. |

Some anglers like to retain the original boiled water to use for mixing the groundbait the next day. This old method remains a very effective way of boosting the flavours and oil content of a groundbait. Now the modern method is quite simple, just add a cap of Extra Strong Hemp Oil to the water prior to mixing the groundbait. Clean and Simple and no need to lug heavy bottle of water to the bank. |
